Board of Supervisors Minutes
November 24, 2009
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m., November 24,
2009. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District
Supervisor; Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Wilkens.
Motion by Wilkens, seconded by Jordan to approve the minutes of the
November 17th, 2009, regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board received a road projects report from the Tama County
Engineer's Office.
The Board met with Skip Lowe, from Bernie Lowe & Associates, to discuss
the quarterly report for the heath insurance plan. The report showed
that the County is doing fine.
Jenny Bledoe, representing the Toledo Public Library and the Tama County
Library Association, gave an informational presentation about the
libraries in Tama County. She shared that the libraries have come a
long way and have so many more resources available besides the many
wonderful books.
The Board discussed the possible need to make some changes/updates to
the current Vision Tama County Grant. Motion by Wilkens, seconded by
Jordan to approve the following resolution:
RESOLUTION 11-24-2009A
VISION TAMA COUNTY GRANT
WHEREAS, Tama County communities and public organizations have the
ability to apply for grant funds from the State of Iowa through the
Vision Iowa Program and,
WHEREAS, the Vision Iowa Board views the financial participation of
county government as an important part of any grant application and,
WHEREAS, Tama County is desirous of promoting economic development and
tourism in Tama County,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Tama
County hereby establishes a Vision Tama County Grant program in the
General Fund (001) of Tama County for use as an economic development
matching fund resource limited to the provisions in this resolution (see
below);
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Tama County
hereby authorizes the County Auditor to place undesignated unreserved
funds in the category of designated unreserved funds each fiscal year
for the purpose of establishing a county-wide program of matching grants
to support and supplement the Vision Iowa Grant program.
Vision Tama County Grant provisions:
Vision Tama County Grant funding will be available to all communities
and public organizations in Tama County that are eligible for Vision
Iowa Grants through the State of Iowa. Details of the program are as
follows:
1. No single grant award can exceed $10,000.
2. Grants will be automatically awarded to any entity presiding
within any of the 12 incorporated cities in Tama County or an entity of
Tama County that are approved for a Vision Iowa Grant.
3. Vision Tama County Grants will provide a 10% match to any Vision
Iowa award subject to the $10,000 maximum.
4. Award of the Vision Tama County grants will be automatic, based
on approval by the Vision Iowa Board of a Vision Iowa Grant award.
5. Vision Tama County grants in Tama County will not be limited in
number or kind by any factors other than approval of the Vision Iowa
Board, the $10,000 per grant limit.
Roll Call Vote: Vest, aye. Jordan, aye. Wilkens, aye. Resolution
passed and adopted this 24th day of November 2009. Larry Vest,

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Wilkens to approve the claims for payment
as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 10:25 a.m.
