Board of Supervisors Minutes
October 27, 2009
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m., October 27, 2009.
Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor;
Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Wilkens.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Wilkens to approve the minutes of the
October 20th, 2009, regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer to get a road
projects report. The Board discussed with the Engineer the need to haul
rock on the gravel roads before winter. The Engineer will work on some
figures for the cost of this. This will be addressed at next week's
meeting.
Bruce Rhodes, Tama County Sheriff's office was present to let the Board
know that they, as non-union employees, want to keep the lines of
communication open in regard to budget issues including wages. The
Board appreciates the efforts of both sides.
The Board discussed the challenges facing them in keeping budget costs
down with the current economic situation. They feel all departments
have been fiscally responsible with their budgets and costs. In order
to keep things going as well as they can, the Board is asking that
department heads talk to the Board if they have a need for hiring.
Motion by Wilkens, seconded by Jordan to approve the Recorder's
Quarterly Report. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Wilkens to approve the claims for payment
as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 10:25 a.m.
