Board of Supervisors Minutes

September 29, 2009

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m., September 29,
2009. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District
Supervisor and Kendall Jordan. 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Wilkens
was absent.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the
September 22nd, 2009, regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer to get a road
projects report.

The Board met with Rick Vesely, Brian Whannel and Shawn Overton, from
the Traer Presbyterian Church to discuss a possible tax abatement on
property owned by the Church. It involves 3 lots that were purchased in
2006. One has been made exempt as it is being used as a sunday school
by the church. The other two lots had homes on them. These have been
razed in the last year to allow for a possible addition to the church.
These lots were not being used for church purposes until the homes were
removed. The current taxes due on these properties are for 2008. The
homes were still on the properties then. Therefore the taxes are due
from the church. Next year, when the 2009 taxes are due there will be
no tax bill for those properties, they will be made exempt as church
property.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as
presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 10:48 a.m.
