Board of Supervisors Minutes

February 16, 2010

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m., February 16,
2010. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District
Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Wilkens.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Wilkens to approve the minutes of the
February 8th, 2010, regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer to get a road
projects report.

Skip Lowe for Bernie Lowe & Associates was present with a six month
review on how the health insurance is doing.

The Board presented the following employees with years of service
awards:

5 years - Maureen Kratoska, Linda Rosenberger, Gina Hoskey, Penni Upah,
Nikki Clark, Jolynn Stoneking, Jacqueline Donnelly, Beth Morrison,
Melinda Kitzman, Dawn Jensen, Roxane Warnell

10 Years - Brenda Bridges, Ginny Young

15 years - Craig Karr

20 years - Joyce Legg, Pamela Harrington, Shirley Ridpath, Daniel
Vesely, Randie Brodigan

25 years - Brent Heeren, Dennis Kucera, Kathryn Fehr, Lori Dixon-Johnson

30 years - Debra Burnes, Ronald Green

35 years -Susan Jones

In the past this was done by ISAC (Iowa Association of Counties) for
elected officials, department heads and deputies. The Board wishes to
acknowledge all employees for their service and dedication and will be
doing this regularly now.

Sheriff Dennis Kucera was present to reiterate to the Board the need for
a huffing ordinance in Tama County and went over the recommended
language for the ordinance. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to set
the first public reading of the Tama County Huffing Ordinance for March
1, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Supervisors board room. The Board further
directs the county auditor to publish a notice for this public hearing
in official newspapers for Tama County. All voted aye. Motion
carried.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to set the County budget hearing for
Monday March 15th, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Supervisors Boardroom, 104
West State Street, Toledo. All voted aye. Motion carried.

The Board acknowledged the receipt of a Notice of Voluntary Settlement
from the district court in regard to an adjustment of assessment to
property owned by the Tama-Toledo Country Club. This change lowers the
assessed value of the property and will affect the amount of taxes to be
received by the taxing entities of the property with Tama County being
one of them. Motion By Jordan, seconded by Vest to authorize the Chair,
Dan Wilkens, to sign the notice. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the claims for payment as
presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Chairman Wilkens adjourned the meeting at 10:35 a.m.
