Board of Supervisors Minutes

January 25, 2010

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m., January 25, 2010.
Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor,
Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Wilkens.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the January
18th, 2010, regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer to get a road
projects report.

The Board met with Julie Shook, Tama Library Director, representing the
Tama County Library Board to discuss funding for the upcoming fiscal
year. She presented figures showing the rural residents usage of the
local libraries. There has been an increase due to more usage of the
computers for resumes, job hunting, etc. The Library Board would
appreciate an increase in their funding but are aware budget constraints
due to the economy.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the Recorder's Quarterly
Report. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the following Resolution
to transfer funds:

RESOLUTION 1-25-2010A

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Tama County Board of Supervisors approves the
transfer of $8,000 from the Law Enforcement Vehicle Fund (1500) to the
General Fund (0001). This money was set aside at the end of fiscal year
2009 for the future purchase of a vehicle for the maintenance
department. The vehicle has now been purchased. Roll Call Vote: Vest,
aye. Jordan, aye. Wilkens, aye. Resolution passed and adopted this

The Board met with the County Treasurer to discuss abatement of taxes on
property in Chelsea that the County has had a tax sale deed on since
1992. It is property that was owned by Ludy Sheda. It is a small piece
of property that has a value of $40 and the taxes each year are $2. An
adjoining landowner received a deed from the County Treasurer last week
for the property. The Treasurer is asking that the Board of Supervisors
abate the taxes, interest and penalties on this property from 1992
through 2008, which totals $50. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to
abate the taxes, interest and penalties on the property from 1992
through 2008 on the property in Chelsea. All voted aye. Motion
carried.

At 10:00 the Board had a public hearing and the third and final reading
of the Wind Energy Conversion System Amendment to the Tama County Zoning
Ordinance. There were several comments heard from the public. At 10:55
Chairman Wilkens closed the public hearing. Motion by Vest, seconded by
Jordan to approve the third and final reading of the Wind Energy
Conversion System Amendment to the Tama County Zoning Ordinance of July
7, 1998 VI.1 and to approve the following resolution to approve the Wind
Energy Conversion System Amendment to the Tama County Zoning Ordinance
of July 7, 1998:

RESOLUTION 1-25-2010B

WHEREAS, that the Tama County Board of Supervisors have held three
public readings and a public hearing on the Wind Energy Conversion
System Amendment to the Tama County Zoning Ordinance of July 7, 1998

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tama County Board of Supervisors
hereby adopts said amendment to the Tama County Zoning Ordinance of July
7, 1998 and directs the County Auditor to publish a summary of the
amendment in official newspapers for Tama County. The effective date of
the change to the ordinance will be the date the summary is published.

Roll Call Vote: Vest, aye. Jordan, aye. Wilkens, aye. Resolution
passed and adopted this 25th day of January, 2010. Dan Wilkens,

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as
presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Chairman Wilkens adjourned the meeting at 10:58 a.m.
