Board of Supervisors Minutes
April 22, 2019
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. April 22, 2019. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the April 15th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
There was discussion about L.O.S.T. funds (Local Option Sales Tax) that the county receives and how it is used. 50% is for property tax relief, 35% is for road improvement projects and 15% is for other rural services. There was discussion on using the 15% for other rural services to help with the cost of hauling rock on the gravel roads this spring.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to allocate $200,000 of local option sales tax money to the Secondary Road Department to be used for the purchase and hauling of rock and hiring private haulers to haul rock on rural county roads.

Distribution of LOST Proceeds to Secondary Roads
WHEREAS Tama County collects a 1% local option sales tax, and
WHEREAS a portion of this revenue is dedicated to County operations at the discretion of the Board of Supervisors, and
WHEREAS the wet winter/spring has caused rock roads to be soft,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors will allocate $200,000 of local option sales tax money to the Secondary Road Department for the purpose of purchasing rock and hiring private haulers to haul rock on county roads.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve property tax suspensions on properties owned by the following people:

Patricia McKinney Traer Parcel 420-0236100009 Current Tax
Mark & Rita Matteson Tama Parcel 550-1427458006 Current Tax
These have been verified by the Department of Human Resources as being eligible for the suspension. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the Auditor’s 2nd Quarter Quarterly Report. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the Auditor’s 3rd Quarter Quarterly Report. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Jordan adjourned the meeting at 9:40 a.m.
