Board of Supervisors Minutes
June 18, 2019
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. June 18, 2019. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the June 10th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
Michelle Yuska, County Treaurer, and Brandon Jensen, Tama, were present to ask the Board to re-assign Tama County Tax Sale Certificate #18-0210 to him. The amount currently owed is $1,274.00 for taxes, interest and penalties. In addition, there is also $210.00 due to the city of Tama for a special assessment in the fall. Ms. Yuska said there is also a $10 fee, making the total $1,494.00. Mr. Jensen is willing to pay all the costs. Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to re-assign Tama County Tax Sale Certificate 18-0210 to Brandon Jensen for $1,494.00. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board re-visited the issue of the Drainage District 1’s levy for this year. On June 3rd the Supervisors approved a 0% levy for this year. A repair has had to be done and the bill is for more than the District has in its fund, so they are asking for a levy to be put in place for this year. Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to rescind the previous Drainage District 1 levy approved on June 3, 2019. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to set the Drainage District 1 levy at 49% for 2019. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Dirk Henle, Maintenance Supervisor, was present to ask the Board if $25,000 of his budget excess at the end of this year be set aside for future projects. $10,000 for tuck pointing and $15,000 for replacing his work vehicle in the future. The Board agreed to this.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Jordan adjourned the meeting at 9:53 a.m.
