Board of Supervisors Minutes
May 28, 2019

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. May 28, 2019.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the May 20th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report. 

The Board held a public hearing regarding a possible road vacation in Section 12 of Spring Creek Township and Section 7 of Crystal Township.  At 10:00 Chairman Jordan opened the hearing.  Public comments:  Members present were in favor of the proposal.  At 10:12 Chairman Jordan closed the public hearing.  Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the following resolution:
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held at 10:00 am on May 28, 2019, in the office of the Tama County Board of Supervisors to consider the proposal to vacate the following road:
A portion of 170th Street between F Avenue and Highway T55, originally established on May 9, 1869 (See Road Calendar Book B, page 184) and on January 9, 1889 (See Road Calendar Book C, page 198) all lying in Sections 1 and 12, T85N, R16W and Sections 6 and 7, T85N, R15W of Tama County, Iowa, and
WHEREAS, comments have been received from adjoining landowners both at the hearing and prior to the hearing to more accurately determine the extent of the closure, and
WHEREAS, no objections have been received, either in writing or by persons present, and
WHEREAS, no claims for damages were received,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that 170th Street from 50’ east of the NW Corner of Section 7-T85N-R15W and continuing easterly to a point about 552.2’ west of the North ¼ Corner of said section (the intended termination point being the SW corner of a parcel containing a residence on the north side of the road) be ordered vacated and closed.
Roll Call Vote: Vest, aye. Jordan, aye.  Anderson, aye.  Resolution passed and adopted this 28th day of May 2019.  Kendall Jordan, Chairman, Board of Supervisors.  Laura Kopsa County Auditor.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Jordan adjourned the meeting at 10:17 a.m.
