TAMA COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD
CONSERVATION TECHNICIAN/PARK RANGER
DESCRIPTION: This is a full time, non-exempt position. Under general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor performs maintenance duties on designated parks and public access areas; provides for the maintenance and security of facilities and premises of the County Conservation Board; repairs, maintains, and operates equipment, machinery and tools used in various maintenance, operational, and repair functions; is responsible for maintenance needs of the Tama County Nature Center. Assists in patrol and enforcement of park rules and board policies. Will be responsible for day to day supervision of maintenance staff in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor as per the Supervisor's directions. Participates in various wildlife habitat, environmental education, development and related program functions. Performs related work as required. Weekend, holiday, evening and overnight work will be required.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and two years of relevant job experience, or completion of an associate's degree with four year of relevant job experience. Major course work in natural resources management, conservation, forestry, park management, wildlife biology, or a related field.
QUALIFICATIONS: Individual must possess a valid State of Iowa motor vehicle operator's license. Must be able to be cleared by Tama County to drive a county vehicle. Must have or be able to obtain a valid CDL- Class A certification (with air brakes, if required. Must receive certification in Commercial Pesticide Application (categories 2, 5, 6), and CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to qualify for, attend, and complete peace officer training through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, if required. This job is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
SALARY: $18.37 - $20.23 per hour ($38,210 - $42,078 per year) dependent upon experience with standard county benefits. Tama County is an equal opportunity employer
