Communicable Disease

Tama County Public Health & Home Care is responsible for the disease investigation of diagnosed reportable communicable diseases in Tama County.

More than 45 diseases are routinely monitored by the State’s Center for Acute Disease Epidemiology (CADE). A few of the diseases we would investigate are:

  • Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
  • Meningitis
  • E. coli
  • Cryptosporidiosis
  • Hepatitis
  • Lyme
  • Shigella
  • Giardia
  • Campylobacter
  • Rabies
  • Tuberculosis

TCPH&HC works directly with the State TB Control Program and monitors latent TB cases and assists with providing free medications to cases.
